Perth Glory has announced the signing of midfielder Lucas Scicluna, adding further depth to their squad for the 2026-27 Isuzu UTE A League season. The 20-year-old midfielder has agreed to a two-year deal with the club.
Scicluna joins Perth Glory after spending the previous season with the Newcastle Jets. During his time with the Jets, he participated in ten Isuzu UTE A League matches, contributing to the team's historic first A Leagues Premiership title.
European Youth Experience
Prior to his spell in Newcastle, Scicluna was part of the youth academies at English clubs Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers. He also played alongside his brother, Dylan Scicluna, who currently plays for Western Sydney Wanderers.
After returning to Australia, Scicluna made his A League debut for the Central Coast Mariners during Round 14 of the 2024-25 campaign.
International Credentials and Ambitions
A dual Australian and Maltese national, Scicluna has represented Malta at both Under-19 and Under-21 international levels. He is now eager to embark on this new phase of his career with Perth Glory.
"I’m incredibly excited to join this club and be part of what the team is building," said Scicluna. "From the moment I spoke with the club, I could see the ambition and vision for success. "I’m looking forward to working hard every day, contributing to the team and helping the club get back to where it belongs."
Club's Perspective on New Signing
Glory Football Director Stan Lazaridis expressed his confidence in Scicluna's potential and suitability for the team's playing style. He highlighted the midfielder's technical abilities and game understanding.
"Lucas has a very high ceiling and is perfectly suited to the style of football Griff [Head Coach Adam Griffiths] wants to play," Lazaridis stated. "He’s technically good, reads the game and keeps the ball well, has a great engine and is ready for a breakout season. "He’ll help provide strong competition in a crucial position and we’re excited to see him develop with us over the next couple of years."
